Puppy HousetrainingCongratulations on your new puppy! Now that you have your new furry friend, are you wondering how to housebreak him or her? Don’t despair! Housetraining your new puppy can be relatively easy and very successful if you devote the appropriate time and patience. A successful puppy training plan includes supervision, confinement and plenty of encouragement.
Making Sense of Your Dog’s World Your dog’s senses allow him to behave and perform in ways nothing short of magical. Dogs perceive the world differently from the way we do – we share the same senses, but with remarkable differences.
Although it's often overlooked, grooming is an important part of your dog’s health program. Routine brushing and combing removes dead hair and dirt and prevents matting. Because it stimulates the blood supply to the skin, grooming also gives your pet a healthier and shinier coat.
Is your dog unruly and obnoxious? Doesn’t listen to a word you say? Or, have you just adopted an adult dog that seems to have either forgotten previous training or missed out on training all together? Don’t worry, you can change your disobedient dog into a well-mannered member of the family.
Does your dog growl or bark when a stranger approaches your house or when something goes bump in the night? If so, you’re not alone. Most dogs will vocalize when they are exposed to new or different situations, including strange people or animals entering their territory; being separated from their pack, mother or even your family members; or new or alarming sounds. Dogs may also bark or growl when they see prey, such as squirrels, and they may bark for attention, food or if they are anxious.
